Submissions will be accepted through our online submission portal (click the book to the right). Send us a query letter along with the first 25 pages of the manuscript. Please indicate if your manuscript is under consideration by other publishers. If it is accepted elsewhere,do the right thing and withdraw it from our system.

Due to the number of submissions we field, we cannot offer critiques of rejected manuscripts, but please be assured that we treat every submission very seriously. We respect the amount of time and energy that goes into your work, and appreciate the opportunity to consider your manuscript. We try to respond to all submissions within four months of receipt of the manuscript. On occasion, however, the response time may be longer.

Submissions will be evaluated on literary merit, on our current publication schedule, how well the manuscript embodies our aesthetic sensibility, and the potential market for the work. All manuscripts will be reviewed by members of our staff.  Promising submissions will then be assessed by the Editor in Chief, who will decide whether to bring forward a manuscript to the editorial board.

Please note that we cannot consider your submission if you send it through mail or email, or if you are a current or former student or faculty member of Butler University.
